Field Projects is pleased to announce our Winter 2016 Open Call! Emerging and mid-career artists are invited to submit their work for consideration in our November 2016 exhibition: Show #34. All submissions will be considered by our Guest Curator Paulina Bebecka (Director, Postmasters Gallery) for Show #34 and the accompanying online show. Simultaneously, Field Projects Panel will be considering the submissions for future group shows, solo shows, art fairs, and our studio visit program, where we invite outside curators to accompany us to your studio.

Check out one of our previous Open Calls curated by Lauren Haynes (The Studio Museum in Harlem) : IMPOSSIBLE GEOMETRIES and a solo show, as well as two art fair with artists we found through the open call: NEVERMORE, SPRING/BREAK, VOLTA. 

Field Projects is an NYC-based project space located in the heart of Chelsea's gallery district. As an artist run space, we are committed to opening the field of exhibition opportunities to other working artists. Whether you have submitted to Field Projects before or it's your first time, we would love to see your work!

About the Guest Curator

Paulina Bebecka, (b. 1983, Warsaw, Poland) is a New York City based an independent curator, director of Postmasters Gallery, a co-founder of +ArtApp.  She holds a MA from Sotheby's Institute of Art in London, and a BA in International Economics as well as a BA in International Business Administration from the American University of Paris. During the 10 years within the NYC art world she held a variety positions, including being the Curator of Art Programing at the Polish Cultural Institute New York between 2011 and 2015 where she has managed over 40 contemporary art projects with various institutions such as MoMA, The New Museum, Performa, ICP, Times Square Alliance, CUNY Segal Theatre, Socrates Sculpture Park, MoMA PS1, AICA, Public Art Fund, NYC Dept of Parks and Recreation.  During her 8 years at Postmasters Gallery - a New York City contemporary art gallery with a long history of showing new media art and nurturing new forms of creative expression - she oversaw all and curated a number of over 80 contemporary art exhibitions and projects.  

Most recently the exhibition this one is smaller than this one. first shown at Postmasters in New York traveled to Galerist in Istanbul, Turkey in May 2016. 

In 2015 Bebecka co-founded +ArtApp, an organization dedicated to initiate activism, research, curation and discussions of the nascent App Art medium,  arts-centered apps and the intersection of art and technology. 

Her curated exhibitions and projects have been reviewed by various publications including the New York Times, Modern Painters, ArtInfo, artnet, Vice, and the Huffington Post among others.

Eligibility & Terms

  • Artists working in all medium are welcome to apply.

  • All artwork submitted must be ready to hang or install.

  • Artist living outside NYC are also welcome to apply, however you will be responsible for artwork shipping costs.

  • Artists working in new media, film, or video - you may be required to use your own equipment for exhibitions.

  • Artists may submit up to 5 works.


Submission Fee : $25

Deadline : Saturday, October 8th, 11:59 PM !!!


About Show #34

  • The theme of the show will come from the work submitted. 

  • Selected artists will be notified by October 16th.

  • All artwork must arrive at Field Projects by Thursday, October 27th.

  • Show #34 opens on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016.

  • All artwork in Show #34 will be for sale, with artists receiving 50% of final sale.
